What is the reality of being an OCDS in contrast to the fantasy world some live in (which is to pray and simply receive, letting someone else do the work. Who’s going to do the dishes, by the way?)
Group #15 responded:
Some have said “just get the scapular and then leave”. People get upset but still must remember all are family, each has a vocation. Distractions are real and must be not worried about that but continue to work for being with God. Sometimes we get discouraged, but we must continue in each moment to work to improve.
Fantasy worlds – outside Carmel and outside Church – many don’t understand and it is hurtful.
The other fantasy is within OCDS – poor formation can cause misapprehension – once formed – don’t have to come to meetings anymore – abandonment, obedience, etc.
People enter order thinking it’s an escape. Just pray and I’ll get something out of it. It’s all about me. In reality we pray for God’s glory and the church.
Some joint organization to say – look who I am- that is the fantasy.
Need true humility, fraternal charity.
Transmittal of spiritual love that is our work.
Reality is being humble “I came to serve – not to be served”
Help people to pray – some don’t know how.
The fantasy is that we work hard interiorly deeply to clear the impediments to God being completely in charge of our hearts and minds – we must progress to unity with Him.
Even if those around us think we are holy or too holy.
